Updated October 26, 2026Who we are
The 21st Century Elections Engine (21CEE) operates the21cee.com. For privacy questions or requests, email info@the21cee.com.
Visiting the website
Cloudflare hosts and protects this website. It may process technical request information, including IP address, requested URL, browser details and timing, to deliver pages and maintain security. Hosting and security processing are separate from our traffic analytics and private reader records.
We do not sell personal information or use reader browsing to change election projections. Advertising pixels are not enabled. External source links open services with their own privacy practices.
Traffic analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand visits, page views, popular page paths, referring websites, approximate country, browser/device categories and page performance. Its beacon does not set analytics cookies. We do not infer your age, sex or political views from traffic, or combine traffic reports with email signups or poll answers. The analytics dashboard is restricted to authorized account access.
Our integration excludes URL query strings and fragments. It does not send email addresses, optional signup answers, Reader Pulse answers or reader-session identifiers. We do not configure custom answer events, form recording or session replay. Visits are not a verified count of individual people, and country information is approximate.
Cloudflare currently makes traffic reports available for the previous six months; this reporting window does not govern retention of our separate reader database. See Cloudflare’s analytics information. Optional traffic analytics stays off until you explicitly choose Allow in the first-visit panel or on our cookie and local-storage page. Reject and Allow are equally available, without an account. Your choice stores 1 for Reject or 0 for Allow under 21cee.analytics.exclude; a missing, unrecognized or unreadable preference keeps analytics off. The preference uses no analytics cookie, fingerprint, IP rule or identity lookup. It does not affect signup consent, Reader Pulse or hosting/security processing.
The exact query ?21cee_qa=1 temporarily excludes the current page before its beacon loads. Noncanonical preview hosts are also excluded. This reduces future owner/QA contamination; it cannot identify, reclassify or remove traffic already counted. Browser privacy tools may also block the beacon without preventing forecast reading.
Preferences on your device
Your chosen light or dark theme and any explicit browser-specific traffic analytics choice are saved in your browser’s local storage. It is not sent to a 21CEE account or used as an advertising identifier. See the cookie and local-storage policy for controls.
When you email us
We receive your email address, message and any attachments you choose to send. Messages to our public addresses pass through Cloudflare Email Routing and arrive in an Apple iCloud inbox. We use them to answer questions, handle media inquiries and administer the project.
We keep correspondence as needed for those purposes and any applicable obligations. You can request access, correction or deletion by emailing us; service-provider backups or legal requirements may limit immediate deletion.
Reader Pulse
Reader Pulse is an optional ten-question survey for people aged 18 or older. If you participate, we save your selected answers, question and edition identifiers, response times, and a random browser session identifier. Some questions concern political opinions. We request your express agreement before saving answers; every question includes a prefer-not-to-answer option. Please do not submit answers if you are under 18.
Results describe self-selected readers, not representative voter polling, and never change the election forecast. Public results contain aggregate counts, with answer breakdowns withheld until at least five responses to a question. No individual-answer list is public. Reader Pulse does not ask for an email address, and its browser identifier is not automatically linked to the separate email list.
Email signup and optional questions
Newsletter signup is for people aged 18 or older. When enabled, our newsletter page links to Kit, an external email provider. The Kit form asks for your email only and sends a confirmation email; confirm to subscribe. Kit processes the email and subscription choices under the privacy notice linked from its form. You can unsubscribe through the link in Kit emails. Unsubscribing stops that subscription; it is not the same as deleting all provider records. Contact us for deletion requests.
The on-site signup form, where shown, saves an unverified signup request in our private database and sends no email. Optional sex, broad age range and party leaning are saved only with separate consent; readers can skip all questions. These existing records remain encrypted at the application layer. They are not automatically transferred to Kit, confirmed, or added to a mailing audience. We do not transfer Reader Pulse answers or optional demographic or political answers to Kit. We do not sell these records, use them for individual political targeting, or send them to advertising or analytics systems. Joining either signup flow does not cast a poll answer or activate a newsletter delivery schedule.
Optional campaign labels
Campaign labels relate only to on-site signup requests and are not transferred to Kit. Campaign measurement is disabled by default. If it is enabled and a recognized campaign link opens this signup page, a separate, unchecked choice lets you save the public source and campaign labels with your signup. You can join without checking it. Only recognized source and campaign labels from the current page are eligible; the full referring URL, extra link parameters and political answers are not collected for this feature. No attribution cookie or browser storage is added, and these labels are not linked to Reader Pulse.
Opted-in labels are retained with the signup for up to 365 days from collection and removed with that row on expiry cleanup or an ownership-checked deletion request. Aggregate counts describe retained unverified signup requests, not conversion rates, confirmed subscriptions or unique people. Traffic analytics remain separate. Existing signups are not attributed retrospectively.
Storage and retention
Cloudflare hosts the private database and application. Credentials and encryption keys stay in server-side secrets. Access is restricted to authorized operation of these services. Cloudflare and Apple operate internationally, so their processing may occur outside your country; their provider privacy notices explain their practices. Hosting security logs may contain technical request information. The reader application does not save raw IP addresses alongside answers.
- Poll answers and their reader-session record expire after 365 days of browser inactivity.
- On-site unverified email signup request records, including optional answers and any separately opted-in campaign labels, expire 365 days after collection. This application retention period does not describe Kit subscription or suppression records; Kit’s provider privacy practices apply to those records.
- Abuse-control counters use keyed, hourly-changing network hashes and expire after two hours.
Expired application records are removed on subsequent API cleanup. Deleted records may remain in service-provider recovery copies for their normal retention period. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Withdraw or request your data
Use Reader Pulse → Withdraw my reader data to remove this browser’s poll answers and recalculate live totals. Withdraw before clearing the reader cookie: losing that cookie prevents the browser from authenticating its earlier answers. Clearing browser data alone does not delete server records or an email signup.
For signup access, correction, deletion or withdrawal of optional-answer consent, email info@the21cee.com from the signup address. We must confirm ownership before acting. Poll withdrawal and signup deletion are separate. We will explain any limits that apply to a request.
Your choices and questions
You can browse without an account, clear saved preferences and choose whether to contact us. Depending on your location, you may have rights concerning personal information; send requests to info@the21cee.com. We may need to confirm ownership before handling a request. This notice will be updated when our practices change.
