Evidence as of

The economy topped the issues tested in CBS News/YouGov’s October 21–23 poll: 83% of likely voters called it very important to their vote for Congress. Inflation followed at 78%, ahead of healthcare at 73% and immigration at 68%. That puts the economy 10 percentage points above healthcare, and inflation 10 points above immigration. These answers show how widely the concerns are shared, rather than a contest in which voters could pick only one priority. A respondent could rate several issues very important. Even immigration, the lowest of these four, drew that rating from more than two-thirds of likely voters. The poll does not tell us that everyone concerned about an issue favors the same policy or party. Sources: CBS News/YouGov October 21–23, 2026 survey toplines and crosstabs

This is a dated look at 2026 voter priorities, not evidence that an issue gained ground since an earlier election. CBS News/YouGov surveyed 2,355 U.S. adults and published the findings on October 25. The issue results describe modeled likely voters, with weighted bases ranging from 1,742 to 1,748 across these four items. Data: CBS News/YouGov. Analysis and graphic: 21CEE.
